Duma Key by Stephen King
Duma Key is a fiction/horror book by Stephen King.
He has gotten quite a bit less gory - thank God, I can read his books at night now - but his writing hasn't suffered from that, I think it’s become much richer through his characters and their relationships. As for his talent for description – I can still see everything he writes in my head like an extra long feature film. (I once read three of his books in a row and had nightmares for a week).
This story is about a man who becomes an artist after a horrible accident ends his first career. I won't say too much about it (you must read it yourself) - only that his drawings and paintings are much more powerful than they should be.
This book has inspired me and I am now reading Dynamic Figure Drawing by Burne Hogarth. Perhaps I can reawaken my figure drawing skills... But not in a spooky way.
